For “In the Garden", I used a predominately cool palette to suggest an abundance of flowers in the foreground. Then for the focal point, I placed a hummingbird in the flowers. The sky is a soft off white.

I think of my mother daily, and hummingbirds remind me of her every time I see one in my garden. When they are around, I feel she is with me in spirit. So, this painting is essentially an homage to her. She remains with me because she is part of me and because of my love for her.
